  1. Section 20(1) of the RTI Act, 2005 relating to penalty of Rs. 250/- per day and maximum of Rs. 25000/- in case of non-supply/late supply of information.
  2. In order to avoid legal penalty laid down in the RTI Act/Rules, all the PIOs and Ist Appellate Authority may ensure strict compliance of said Act/Rules.
  3. All the PIOs will review, monitor and follow-up the cases of supply of information under RTI Act in respect of their Departments/Offices indicated above on day-to-day basis and ensure that the information is supplied to the applicants within time limit prescribed in the Act.
  4. The PIOs/Ist Appellate Authority occupy the statutory positions under RTI Act/Rules and thus they are to take decisions on the applications/appeals of the RTI Act/Rules. However, any guidance, if required, for the compliance of the provisions of the RTI Act/Rules, may be taken from the local Standing University Counsel.
  5. Where an application is made to a PIO requesting for an information, the subject matter of which is more closely connected with another PIO, the PIO to whom such application is made, shall transfer the application or such part of it as may be appropriate, to the concerned PIO(s) and inform the applicant immediately (but in no case later than 3 days from the date of receipt of application) about such transfers. Such PIO(s) to whom the application has been transferred should furnish information as per provisions of RTI Act to the applicant directly.
